Winter Break

My plans for Winter Break is just to hang out with my family. Maybe watch some movies with my family stuff. We're maybe having some family come over for Christmas Eve. Well open some Christmas presents and stuff. Other than that I'm just planning to stay up late.

Book Recomandation

The book I recommend to everybody is The Greatest. It's a biography book about Muhammad Ali. So if you like sports this is your book. I think this book was great and very interesting. It's a great book because it gives real life pictures of Muhammad Ali. I think anybody should read this book.

EVALUATE

Well I thought the story had an awkward ending like a lot of books. I expected more like him moving from the reservation. But overall I did like the book. I like the style of writing the author has. All the bad words just seem to make the book funny.

Indian reservations are areas of land given to Native American tribes by the United States government. In the 1850-60's the government decided to move Indians to land that was unwanted by Settlers many of the tribes did not want to move to new lands and refused. Soon the government sent in the U.S. Army to force them to move the new reservation lands. This caused many bloody wars between the Indians and the U.S. Army. Eventually, most Indians did move to the reservations. Today, reservations are run by their own tribal council, and less than half of Indians live on the reservations. Many of the Indians who live off the reservations live in large Western cities, like Phoenix and Los Angeles.

CHRISTMAS TRADITION

If I could create a new Christmas tradition it would be getting a minimum of ten presents. I know some people probably get more than that. And some people don't. So it would be lovely for everybody to get a decent amount of presents.

PERSONALITY

One of my main personality traits that I have is being happy. I'm a pretty easy going person. I think people would agree with me I'm happy most of the time (not in the morning though beacause still sleepy). I react to situations very quickly. I'm the type of person that if there's an argument going on I like to give my opinion and say who's right. I also like to judge people. And I don't know why.

FAVORITE SPORT

One of my favorite sports I like to watch and play is basketball. My favorite NBA team is the Los Angeles Lakers. I've been a big fan of them since I was five. I often go the Rose Garden and watch them play against the Portland Trailblazers. One of my favorite players in the Lakers is Kobe Bryant.

FAVORITE TV SHOW

One of my favorite shows of all times is BET 106 and Park. It's a Hip Hop music show that's been around for a while. And they still show it. One of my recent favorite ones is Lopez Tonight. They show it TBS and its hosted by George Lopez. It's a comedy show and he brings new guests each time.

Thanksgiving

Well I don't really have any big plans for Thanksgiving rather than stay home with my family and do the usual, eat turkey. I'm not a very big Thanksgiving fan. I don't really like turkey. I prefer chicken. Now that I know we have a week off I'm planning to spend some time with my cousin. Other than that I'll just stay home and sleep.

I think Arnold, and Rowdy look at the world as them being on their own. Rowdy just seems to hate life. Junior has been getting back on track. He now made a friend and seems to like his new school. Rowdy has a anger managment problem beacause he beats everybody up.

SENTENCE COMBINING

Junior is a Spokane Indian and lives on the reservation.
At Reardan High School Junior is one of the smartest kids, but Gordy is smarter.
Junior has a hard time getting to school , so sometimes he has to walk all 22 miles.

ASOLUTE TRUE STORY OF A PART TIME INDIAN

How I think that the author got it's name for it's book is he first thought of what the story was mainly about which is Indians living on a reservation. I also think that the title means him being an Indian but trying to be somebody else.

Living on a Reservation

Well I'm actually impressed by the way Junior and his community are living in the Reservation. I've actually heard different, I was told that Indians live a wealthy life on a Reservation. And just living there would be a struggle.
The reservation seems so boring and poor. Living there would be my last thing I would want to do.

BOOK

Junior was born with a brain problem. Ever since he doesn't seem like a normal kid. Junior is a lonely kind of kid who doesn't have a lot of friends. He seems to be a pretty funny looking kid. He hates his Indian heritage and hates being poor. Other Indians bully him around and beat him up.

REACTION ABOUT THE STORY

The book we read was really good. It was easy to see what the author was trying to say because he gave a lot of details. It's also a very funny book so that's another good thing. And it just seems for it to get better.

BIGGEST OBSTACLE

Well one of the biggest obstacle I'm willing to overcome is getting my GED. My GED means a lot to me now because I decided I want to go to college. And if you wish to go to college you got to have a diploma/GED. So this is probably the biggest thing I'm trying to overcome. In order for me getting my GED I got to work on going to school most of the time.

STORY

Well I was born and raised in Oxnard, California. And for fourteen years I lived in what people called the ghetto. One of the most dramatic things I got to experienced was very scary. It was a Friday just past noon when me and couple friends were out playing basketball at a near by park. And as we finished playing we hear gunshots. The thing was that they sounded really close to us. We ran down there to see what it was. As we got to scene we saw a body laying down covered in blood. It turned out that the guy that had gotten shot was one of my childhood friends.

"Rookie"

The book I'm reading now is called Rookie. I would call it an ok book it's not really a novel it's more like a autobiography. It talks about basketball players careers in the NBA. It's not the greatest book ever written.

Dear Rebekah,

One of the things I'm hoping to learn before I get out of this class is to be able to read and write better. Those two things have always been a struggle for me so that's what I'm focusing the most on. I also want to learn more words that I didn't know. Lastly the third thing I would hope for is to pass my G.E.D test.

My dog is white with a brown spot on his back. He barks when people pet him or feed him. He is a very selfish dog. He likes to take showers while he's eating a bone. One of his favorite foods is cereal.

THE PORTRAIT

I think the meaning of this poem was that if you hurt someone verbally or physically that memory can stay with that person the rest of their life. I don't know if this poem was made up or a life experiencing event but if it was that's why I think the author wrote it. I did enjoy the poem because it's kind of like a short story turned into a poem. And this time the poem actually made sense the first time I read it.

Well I don't really have plans for my weekend I usually just do what ever comes up wether it's hanging around with friends, cousins or just stay home an chill. I like playing football so that's another thing I'll do.

PEOPLE WRITING POETRY

I think people write poetry to express their feelings or what they have been through. I'm not a big fan of poetry so I don't really pay attention to the words they say. I used to think that poems needed to rhyme but not to long ago I found out that they don't. For me writing poems is very hard although it seems pretty easy. I think song lyrics and poetry are not exactly the same but they both sometimes relate to life experiences.

FAMILY TRADITIONS

One of my family traditions that I enjoy is during Christmas time and we either eat tamales or posole. Tamales and posole are an old classic Mexican food. I kind of like them both but it's just that I'm really tired of eating that. I don't really know how or when that tradition started but I can tell you it's been around for a long time. Other than that I just like hanging around with the family.

SCARIEST THING THAT'S HAPPEND TO ME

PLACE I WOULD NEVER WANT TO GO AGAIN

One of the places I wouldn't want to go again is Tijuana. When I was there It just seemed like I wasn't going to make it out of there. And it's so crowded that was my fear me getting lost. Also a lot of traffic the streets get jam pack.

PLACE WOULD WANT TO GO TO

I would like to go to Puerto Rico beacause it seems like a good place to go party. The beaches also seem amazing. Not to mention I heard people are very polite and kind. Also it seems very open meaning you could do what ever you want.

EBARRASING

One of my most embarrasing moments that I remember was when I fell off my bike and a grip of people saw. I was so embarrased and just had to stand back up and keep on riding. And the thing is I wasn't hurt or anything but them just staring at me was what made me panic. So it just happensd when I was riding and trying to get from one street to another. And when I was about to get to the other side I get to trip on the curb. There was about seven of them and they giggled.

FAVORITE SEASON

One of my favorite things about the fall is to watch and stare at the leaves fall off the trees. Also I start enjoying the weather. I also like the days more because they start getting longer and I get to watch more T.V. Other than that it's not really my type of season.

ADDICTION

I think people become addicted by overdosing or overdoing what ever they do. Also starting at a young age is a big factor of addiction. Drug users at a young age a lot of them get pressured to do drugs and that's how they get started. Friends are mostly the ones that would give/sell you the drugs. Also some drug users do drugs for a habit to take away their problems or depression they are going through.

I think coming to school and getting your education are important because that's the only way you will succeed unless you hit the jackpot at Spirit Mountain Casino. I come to school of course for an education. In the future I want to have a good job that pays me for a living. Now if I didn't come to school I would be someone out in the streets up to no good. Also I come to school because my mom makes me and I want to make her proud.

DEDICATION

What dedication means to me is just to be able to concentrate on one thing and accomplishing it. Like to me I dedicate my time into school. I dedicate my time into school because I'm planning to have a future in life and some day I would want to be a Probation Officer.

MY FAVORITE FOOD

One of my favorite foods is shrimp scampi. I don't really care were I buy it from but my best place to go get it from is Olive Garden. I just love the smell of it when they barely bring it to you and set it on the table. I like eating it with soft, garlic bread sticks. If it was up to me I would eat it everyday. I don't really know what's on it but all I know there's shrimp, pasta and some source of sauce.

JOB I WOULD WANT TO HAVE

If I was able to have any job it would be a music producer. I would like to be a music producer because I like music of course and it just seems like kick back job. Also they make a lot of money and get to meet different kind of famous people. Dr. Dre is one of my idol's. He's probably the best music producer out there right now and I just want to be even better.

INFLUENCE

My most important influence in my life is my cousin Adrian. He's always been like a brother to me since I was a little kid. He's been there through tough times when I needed him. And he's so big of an influence to me because he changed his life totally around. When he was younger he was a hard head and was gang banging. And to go from a gang member to becoming a officer, that's pretty amazing.

ROLE MODELS

I think that parents and grandparents are a very important role in kids life. What ever they do most of the time kids are going to end up doing the same. My role is to be a good person in case my little brothers are looking up to me. Most of the time parents try to be good models to their kids. Like, my mom always taught me to respect my elders and that's one thing that has stuck with me.

My favorite type of music is rap or hip hop. One of my favorite rappers is Easy-E and Ice Cube. I liked them both when they were more well known as N.W.A. I like them because they keep it more real and don't get so kooky like other rappers. Another favorite rapper of mine is 2 PAC. When he passed away most people consider him the best rapper of all time. I liked him for his style of his lyrics and his beats.

I personally think that the speech that president Obama gave was very good because he let everybody know that there is no excuses. When he talked about whether if you had money or not that didn't mean you couldn't do your homework. Also I think he made everybody put their head's up by letting them know that "no" wasn't the answer. Also If parents think the speech was not worth doing I think they're wrong because all them little kids or not only them but teens they're are going to look up to him.
